What are the long term effects of CBD?
Many people ask me if there are any short- or long-term effects to taking CBD as a product. Especially as CBD is something that has to be taken on a regulated basis, especially if you are taking CBD for a specific medical reason
Currently, there are no known adverse health issues regarding CBD in the human body or brain. The World Health Organisation stated that there were no detectable signs that CBD negatively impacts your health in the long run. In fact, studies have shown that CBD helps protect your brain in the long term, due to having neuroprotective elements to it. This is through the endocannabinoid system (ECS) & how CBD helps keep the CB1 & CB2 receptors working for longer and more effectively. As CBD is not a psychoactive compound there is no addiction possible when taking CBD. As stated, before many people who take CBD in the long term gain various positives to their general brain & health- hence why it is used to help people with Alzheimer’s and dementia, physically as well, the anti-inflammation properties of CBD help keep your bodies flexible, which is why people who have arthritis and fibromyalgia find a positive impact from taking CBD.
That being said, there have been studied side effects to CBD. Some of the side effects observed was loss of appetite, dry mouth, nausea, fatigue, drowsiness & diarrhoea. Whilst very few people do have side effects to CBD, there have been observed cases of the above symptoms occurring from CBD intake. If you feel like this is something that has happened to you, it is best to stop taking CBD & possibly consult with your doctor. Again, very few people suffer from these side effects & whilst not as serious as some other harder prescription drugs’ side effects, we want to ensure the safety of our customers.
